In simple terms, let’s define coding as the basic act of writing – in a programming language, a script that a computer can understand. This script will tell the computer to behave in a certain way, to do a certain thing, and to, ultimately, perform the actions that you want it to if your code is right.
Each language in coding is used for various platforms, such as java script,C++ Blocky etc. Coding is not an easy task and takes a long time to become competent, coding at the basics comes downs to 1’s and 0’s, 1=true and 0=false logic ( If, this, then, that) If a polar bear touches water it will rotate 365 degrees, if it does not touch it it will not complete. Tables are completed to more easily see how coding works. There are games that can be played to move certain animals to learn fundamental coding patterns and the basics, its an easy way to learn about it without even knowing you are learning about it. The object of the game is to get the turtle to the jewel, the kids play code cards and you do whatever the code cards say, each kid picks a card and turtle, the turtles in the corners and matching jewels in the centre, the kid puts a card down, the yellow cards move a card a certain way and the purple kid moves it another. Laser cards, ice walls, stonewalls, crates and puddles are incorporated so a child can easily move up. It is a visual representation and strong introduction the coding world. Having a basic knowledge of coding can simply help you to have a better understanding of how the technology you use every day works.
